Post PHS Graduation education & employment
I was so not ready for college ( I had to study hard in high school because I was the oldest of 8 children and Mom worked so I had lots of responsibility and extra work thrust upon me)so I went to a tech college and became a "dental assistant." It was a good move because wherever I went I could easily find employment. My husband was in the military and we traveled thru the states being stationed in all kinds of areas. After 38 years of dentistry and being mature enough to think about what I wanted, I realized I so hated the dental field. I was good at it, but found it tough to be in an office all day and do the same routine over and over. So one day I quit! My true "love" was art! So I began to take courses at Pierce College and "low & Behold" became an art instructor, joined art leagues, met people with like interests and now I teach privately and sell my work at galleries. When I was through with my courses at Pierce I began teaching oil painting, then acrylic painting as added and the following year I started watercolor painting too. I taught at the Puyallup campus 6 years until we moved to Whidbey Island. I had art work at the Open art Studio and Art House Café in Tacoma until I moved up here. I still teach occasionally at the Open Art Studio in Tacoma. Now I display my work at the Garry Oak Gallery in Oak Harbor, WA. By the way, I love my life, nature & wildlife! I much prefer the natural beauty of nature to the city life.
